Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. The Raw Stone jewelry is meticulously handcrafted with the highest standards of quality and excellence, and we are proud of our work. We offer a limited lifetime warranty on the craftsmanship of our jewelry.
Should your jewelry require attention related to damage, please contact us for instructions on shipping your ring to us. Before your ring is shipped to us, we will need to collect a $100 deposit which covers the cost of two-way shipping (we will email you a shipping label). Upon receipt, your ring will be evaluated by one of our team members to determine if the damage is covered by our warranty. This fee will be refunded in full if the repair work is determined to be covered by our warranty. If your repair is not covered by our warranty, we will notify you with an estimated cost for you to approve before any repair work is performed. If you approve the repairs, your deposit will be applied to the total cost. If you do not approve the repairs, the deposit will be used to cover the return shipping charge after evaluation.
If a manufacturing issue is found, The Raw Stone will repair the damage without charge. Additionally we will cover the service and shipping cost on most minor repairs that happen within twelve months from the time you receive your product (assuming no obvious major trauma is found). Examples include diamond accent replacement, tightening of loose stones, and ring warping. Beyond the first year, minor repairs are usually required because of wear and tear, and we will charge you a service fee at our cost + shipping (if applicable).
Any repair or service by someone other than The Raw Stone will void this warranty. This warranty excludes coverage for wear and tear, physical abuse, theft, loss of center gemstone, and damage caused by failure to obtain the proper repairs to preserve the integrity of the jewelry. Examples of issues not covered by our lifetime warranty include: precious metals worn over a long period (in particular, in delicate areas such as prongs) will wear thin over time and requires restoration as part of normal wear and tear; the loss of gemstone(s) caused by damage or wear and tear - such as prongs catching, wearing out, or being struck by force; change in metal color due to exposure to chemicals, make-up, or baths and swimming pools; and, ring warping due to improper fit.

The item must be returned in its original, unworn condition within 7 days of the initial shipment. Each piece must be returned in the original packaging with all original documentation/certification. How are your diamonds and gemstones ethical?
At The Raw Stone, the foundation of our business is ethical sourcing. We go beyond the Kimberley Process to ensure that our diamonds come from places that we consider to be more responsible. These mines have no child labor, no slave labor, are not located in natural protected areas, provide a living wage to workers, and are required to remediate the environment properly when the mines are closed.
Rough diamonds are also significantly more ethical, as there is no chance that child labor, slave labor, or poor working conditions such as sweatshop labor are used to cut the diamonds. The diamonds are left as is and are completely unworked by human hands.
We source our sapphires through a family we personally know. They have two mines in Sri Lanka. Both are artisanal - which means that only handmade tools can be used in the mining process, and that the mine is small-scale which limits the width and depth of the mine so as not limit environmental impact. This family hires laborers from nearby villages. The laborers live on premises for the mining season in well-kept housing where food is also provided. The same laborers come back year after year, proving that the family is taking good care of them. Laborers are paid according to the government set standards for mining in Sri Lanka, and the mines are registered and licensed yearly with the government.
Our other gemstones come from a mining collective in Tanzania called the Tanzania Association of Women Miners (TAWOMA). Here, women are trained to work in the mining sector, and a series of mines that employ women gather together and sell their stones marketed by these women members.
We also carry, in small amounts, Montana sapphires that came directly from a private property in Montana that is overseen by its owner.
What is a raw diamond?
A raw diamond is a diamond that is totally natural, uncut, not polished, and completely unaltered by human hands. They are also called rough diamonds or uncut diamonds. The raw diamonds that we carry were taken directly from the earth, and only washed. Sometimes rough diamonds appear to have what looks like cuts or facets in them. These are actually just natural crystalline structures that appear on the surface of the stone, and are not human alterations.
What sized center diamond or gemstone should I get?
This is a tricky question because it depends upon your preferences, finger size, and budget.
Generally, our customers are happiest with engagement stones around one carat. This is equally true for rough diamonds, sapphires and cut diamonds. For a slightly larger looking stone, but still within a typical size range, we suggest increasing the size to up to 1.5 carats. And, if you're looking for a stone that will wow and really pop on the finger, then we suggest a stone that is between 1.5-2.5 carats. Anything above that size stone, in our opinion, begins to be a bit unwieldy and is less useful for daily wear.
How long will it take for me to receive my order?
With the exception of our "Ready to Ship" products and loose stones, all of our items are made to order, and generally require a 4-6 week turnaround time. Custom pieces typically require 5-8 weeks. Please contact us for specific lead times or deadline requests.
Can my order be rushed?
Some engagement rings and wedding bands can be rushed for an extra fee by choosing the "rush" option in the shipping section at checkout. This means that production time will take 4 weeks, instead of the usual 6-8 weeks, and Ready Made items or loose stones will be shipped overnight. If you have a hard deadline, please send an inquiry to info@therawstone.com
I need a ring right away, is there anything available?
Yes. Please browse through our "Ready Made" products where we have plenty of rings available. You can choose to rush the shipment overnight in the shipping options at checkout.
How do I get my partner's ring size?
Follow our guide at this link to finding a ring size. We recommend going with a size that is easy to slide on and slightly resistant when taking it off.
Can I resize my ring?
With the exception of eternity bands and certain intricate designs, most rings can be resized up to one size up or down from its current size. We provide resizing services within one size up or down for $100.00 which includes traceable shipping back to you. You can go ahead and initiate the resize through this page which gives directions with a link for payment. Rings that cannot be resized will require remanufacturing which comes with a fee. If your ring has an engraving, the resizing process will likely erase some of the engraving; $20 would be applied if you request for a re-engraving.
Return shipping costs are included in the price of the resize.
Resizing generally takes three weeks from the date we receive your ring to the date you receive it in return. However, this could be delayed or we may not accept requests for resizing during peak seasons, such as December. When sending your resizing to us, please include a note of the size you would like to resize to.
Can I go to another jeweler to resize my ring from The Raw Stone?
We do not recommend that you use another jeweler to work on jewelry from The Raw Stone. Not all jewelers are created equal and it takes a master craftsperson to work on our unique designs, and especially with rough diamonds. Additionally, repair or service by a jeweler or designer other than The Raw Stone will void the warranty that comes with our engagement rings and wedding bands.
How long will it take for me to receive my package?
IF YOU PURCHASED A LOOSE STONE OR READY-MADE JEWELRY:
For domestic regular orders, it can take up to two weeks, but usually less than a week. For rush orders, then it is less than a week, usually just a few days. For international orders, we are dependent on customs processing, so it can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks depending on how fast your package makes its way through your country's customs.
IF YOU PURCHASED A CUSTOM PIECE OF JEWELRY:
It can take between 6-7 weeks to receive your custom jewelry order. If you let us know that you are in a rush, then we can sometimes expedite the order for you to receive it a bit faster.
Is there tracking on my package?
Yes, we will send you all tracking details for your packages via email after your purchase.
What shipping companies do you ship with?
We ship with all the major shipping services. Depending on where you are located, we may ship with the US Postal Service, UPS, FedEx, DHL and occasionally Brinks when a Kimberley Certificate is requested for an international order.
